Truck drivers have a responsibility to reach their destinations and make their deliveries in a timely manner. It was recently reported that New York Governor Andrew M. Cuomo placed a ban on tractor-trailers and commercial buses from traveling on major highways in the state due to the inclement winter weather. However, some drivers did not adhere to the ban, and as a result, they received tickets for traveling on the highways. After being ticketed, the truckers had to get off the highways, and many of them are having to wait for the ban to be lifted before they can get back to work.

One individual reportedly received tickets for trying to drive his truck on the highway, and the associated fines reached nearly $2,000. Though many drivers are frustrated by the ban because of an inability to reach their destinations, others understand that the vehicles they drive pose safety risks and that the ban may be necessary to save lives. Still, some truck drivers are trying to find ways around the highways and still ending up in accidents themselves.

Receiving traffic tickets can certainly cause a number of setbacks related to both driving ability and financial repercussions. In some cases, New York drivers may have reason to fight the citations that they receive.
